Lara has the passion for and knowledge of safety—a rare combination. I have regularly observed Lara take “systems, processes, and compliance” and make it relatable to miners. She easily understands behavior-based safety and through that connection is able to incorporate the process and regulations into a total package for her miners. I recruited Lara to lead the Safety Department Standards Committee. We received the highest audit in North America for Rio Tinto. Throughout Lara’s safety career, she has endeavored to successfully promote and enhance safety values, ethics, and zero harm.
